Our Creative Journey
Who We Are
Young Baggage Productions is a new production company that has its roots in the explosion of online creativity that happened during lockdown. As theatre spaces went dark around the world, we kept live drama alive by imagining how some of Shakespeare's most famous characters might react if they found themselves in this new reality - forced to conduct their lives via a peculiar device called "Zoom". How will Horatio stop Hamlet whingeing, so that he can get off Zoom and got to bed? How would King Lear manage if he was trapped in a care home? What would happen if we followed Romeo and Juliet's, Friar Lawrence, as he conducts socially distanced confessions online?
As lockdown ended, we continued to explore new ways of presenting classic texts on stage, film and radio, and Young Baggage Productions was born. Our first theatre production, Friar Lawrence's Confessional, will be touring schools and theatres in autumn 2025 and spring 2026. We will be delighting diners with our Three Course Christmas Carol this Christmas, and our first feature film, The Self-Tape Diaries, is due to be released later this year.
